Ideal for drinks and conversation, the bar is open daily from 4.00 pm to 2.00 am. The mezzanine floor above the bar offers a relaxed and intimate lounge area.

The HCMC bar (stands for Ho Chi Minh City) was built by the Tokyo-based interior design firm, “Super Potato”. This bar features an illuminated black marble, stainless steel and glass island bar. A semi-private booth setting is available on one side of this island bar with each booth partitioned by metal screens. A metal and glass wine library is another highlight of the HCMC bar. The customised and programmed designer music selection complements the sleek design of the bar.

2 Lam Son Lounge at Park Hyatt hotel is located in a stylish neighbourhood in the heart of the city. Lemon grass or ginger martinis are the signature drinks at the HCMC bar. While Martinis start at $7, wine by the glass is priced at $8, and beers at $4. The bar offers more than 600 choices of premium beverages ranging from vintage vines to signature cocktails.

We visited the HCMC bar on a Sunday night and found the place packed with well to do Vietnamese along with a sprinkling of expats. We were pleasantly surprised to find that this uber super trendy lounge serves a great drink menu. Though the pricing of the beverages is a bit high, it is not as high as one would expect for a place this trendy. The service at this sophisticated Indochinese bar is quite friendly and gracious.

Overall, my experience at the HCMC bar was Bombastic.

What I didn’t like: That we didn’t discover 2 Lam Son Bar earlier in our stay
