The eruption of Mount Eyjafjallajokull in Iceland on 14 April 2010, and the resulting volcanic ash cloud over Europe, have caused severe flight disruptions. If your journey was affected, we are very sorry for the inconvenience. We are making every possible effort to help our passengers continue their journey as soon as possible.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol: latest update 19 April 13:15 hours

All European flights into and out of Amsterdam on Monday 19 April are cancelled until, at least, 20:00 hours Amsterdam time.

All intercontinental flights scheduled to depart out of Amsterdam on Monday April 19th are cancelled until, at least, 20:00 hours Amsterdam time.

On intercontinental flights scheduled to arrive into Amsterdam on Monday 19 April will be decided on a case by case basis, at the latest 4 hours before departure.

Please do not go to the airport if your flight is cancelled. As additional information becomes available, we will update this page. We are making every possible effort to assist all affected passengers to continue their journey.

We apologize for long waiting times at our sales and service centres.

Please note that when the airspace opens again, it will take some time to fully reinstate the planned schedules.


Re-book options
We may have changed your flight dates for you. Before contacting the KLM Service Centre, please log on to Manage my booking to view your flight details.

If you have a fully flexible ticket and your flight dates have not been changed, you can change your flight dates yourself, free of cost, via Manage my Booking or via your travel agent.

If you do not have a fully flexible ticket, please contact your travel agent or the KLM Service Centre about changing your flight.

If you travel to, from or via Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, between 14 April and 23 April 2010, we offer the following options:

1. Change of travel dates
You may change flight dates for travel to, from or via Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Outbound travel should occur no later than 10 June 2010. The original required duration of your stay may be unchanged.

The following conditions apply:

•You may change one outbound and one inbound flight free of charge.
•You may only change your flight dates to alternate flight dates, if available in the same booking class. However if your original flight was cancelled, you are allowed to change your flight dates to alternate flight dates with availability in the same cabin / class of service (economy or business class).
•Changing flight dates and re-issuing of tickets must be done by the end of the day on Friday, 7 May 2010.
•You may change to alternate flights of AIR FRANCE, KLM and/or Delta only.

You may use the full value of your existing tickets for the purchase of new tickets at the same or a higher AIR FRANCE, KLM and/or Delta fare for flights after 10 June 2010.

2. Change of destination
You may use the full value of your existing tickets for the purchase of new tickets at the same or a higher AIR FRANCE, KLM and/or Delta fare.

Re-booking and re-issuing of tickets must be done by the end of the day on Friday, 7 May 2010. To change your destination, please contact us.

3. Refunds
If your flight was cancelled or delayed more than 5 hours, you may request a full refund. You can apply for a refund by contacting us, or your travel agent.
