Qantas and British Airways First Class Lounge - Singapore Changi Airport
Didn’t deliver what a First Class lounge of such repute should have offered.
Before our flight to London Heathrow from Singapore, we stopped at the Qantas First Class Lounge in Singapore. Only “elite” members or those on qualifying First Class flights are allowed into the lounge. With the repute that both British Airways and Qantas held, we had a lot of expectations out of this first class lounge and we here to see if they would be upheld. Location and Timing: The Qantas First Class Lounge in Singapore was located at the Departure Transit Lounge on Level 3. Its operation hours were between 6.30am - 10.00am and 3.00pm - 11.00pm.
First Impression: We walked into the Qantas First Class Lounge in Singapore at 11 pm and it was quiet and relatively empty.
Décor and Ambience: The Qantas First Class Lounge in Singapore is long with lot of seating. It was done in shades of brown, green, gold and maroon and would have looked nice except that it wasn’t maintained too well and had a run-down look about it.
Amenities and Offer: The lounge had big bathrooms, workstations, fax and phone facilities, large screen television, a stock of newspapers and magazines and few other amenities that are offered during its operating hours. But none of the offers were on scale with what a first-class lounge should lend its passengers.
Food Available: There were no restaurants in sight at the Qantas First Class Lounge in Singapore. We were offered little pizza squares and egg rolls and we could help ourselves to some soft drinks and other beverages. Since we were here outside normal operating hours, I can’t comment much on how it functions during the working hours.
Overall Impression: For being a first class lounge by British Airways and Qantas, this was quite a letdown. The Qantas First Class Lounge in Singapore just didn’t live up to the expectations in terms of service, offer and appearance that a first-class lounge should offer its passengers. It did offer me a quiet respite before my journey but not much more. As a First Class Lounge, it was a letdown.
Rating: Between Bombastic and Not.
