Mixedberries – Hawalli, Kuwait: Located in the Al-Safat Building across from the Sultan Center in Hawalli, Mixberries is a small frozen yogurt shop similar to the famous, Pinkberry yogurt shop which has almost as many locations as Starbucks in Kuwait.

I stopped into Mixedberries to see for myself just how good their yogurt is. The shop is small, but brightly decorated and inviting. I was told they are moving out of that space and moving to Avenues later this year. I don’t know if their new shop will be any larger, but I do hope they keep the fun design. Mixberries also offers home delivery.

I stepped up to the counter and was quickly greeted, I was the only customer in the shop and probably in the mall; it seems all the shops closed because an electronics store (maybe Eureka) is taking over the whole building.

I ordered the raspberry and the passion fruit yogurts to be mixed in a small cup. I took a look at their toppings; they were extremely fresh looking so I had them add a few raspberries, pomegranate and blackberries on top.

Based on my experience with Pinkberry, I was anticipating nothing but huge flavors, I took a bite. Disappointing was the first thing that came to mind! Where was the flavor? Unlike Pinkberry, there was hardly any flavor! The raspberry offered some, but the passion fruit was non-existent. The fruit however was quite good.

When I got home later in the day I looked at my receipt and it said passion fruit and mango. Now I am not too sure what they actually served me. There was so little flavor that maybe I did have something other than what I ordered, but at this point it really doesn’t matter. No flavor is no flavor.

If Mixedberries does move to Avenues and I have am there and have to choose between them and Pinkberry, my decision is made. If I am going to pay almost 2 KD for a small bowl of frozen yogurt, I’m sorry Mixberries, but I’ll be heading over to Pinkberry.

My rating for Mixberries in Kuwait is Almost Bombastic.
