Situated right across the street from Cumberland movie theatre on Cumberland Street, Caren’s wine bar has a simple yet elegant décor. This bi-level bar has two lovely patios, a lively one in the front and a secluded one at the back. The patio at the back is done up in exposed brick and wood paneling and decorated with wooden furniture and Moroccan style white lanterns.

We were at Caren’s wine bar for lunch. The menu featured a variety of soups, salads, appetizers and classic mains like spicy baked Mac and Cheese and Stilton-stuffed burger. However, the main focus was on the wine and cheese. While wines were offered by the glass, cheese was available by the wedge. Cheese platters, fondue and individual cheese selections as well as wine, cheese and fruit pairings were also on offer at this wine bar in Toronto. I ordered a mac and cheese while my partner opted for oysters. Both were delicious and the portions were generous. We also sampled some of their wine and cheese.

Service at Caren’s wine bar was good. Our server had a good knowledge about cheese and wines and made some great recommendations. Overall, this wine bar in Toronto serves nice and hearty food in a great setting. Our rating for Caren’s wine bar is Bombastic.
