Fountain Bistro and Wine Bar – Shanghai, China: Located in the hip and trendy area of Xintiandi in Shanghai, is the uber-chic Fountain Bistro and Wine Bar.

We stumbled upon Fountain Wine Bar as we were sightseeing in Xintiandi and from all the Xintiandi restaurants we saw in the area, Fountain Bistro and Wine Bar, with its gorgeous outdoor dining area, looked the most appealing.

We grabbed ourselves a seat with a good view of the fountain which, I am sure is the reason behind its name, Fountain Bistro and Wine Bar, and got ourselves ready for some serious people watching.

A sharply dressed waiter who spoke very good English (which can be hard to find in Shanghai) quickly greeted us and brought us our menus and took our drink orders. It was a gorgeous afternoon and the people watching in Xintiandi was superb, so we decided we would take our time and asked for the wine menu. This wasn’t going to be a “dine and dash”, but instead, we were going to take our time and enjoy our prime seat at Fountain Bistro and Wine Bar in Xinitiandi.

The menu was stocked full of Western dishes and sandwiches. We started with a bucket of steamed mussels, and bottle of cool and crisp white wine, followed by a grilled salmon fillet for me and their avocado club veggie sandwich for my partner.

Their food was amazing. The mussels were fresh and beautifully prepared. My salmon was light and perfect for dining under the Shanghai sun. The club sandwich was light and not too filling; again perfect for our afternoon lunch in Xintiandi.

Service throughout lunch was thoroughly attentive and our waiter was full of tips and information about the Xintiandi area and Shanghai in general.

If you visit Fountain Bistro and Wine Bar, be sure to check out the interior as well; it is ultra, ultra, ultra chic and trendy! Had we had more time in Shanghai, I am sure we would have made a return visit to enjoy the the interior of Fountain Bistro and Wine Bar. Gorgeous!

Our experience at Fountain Bistro and Wine Bar in Xintiandi was perfect and a visit is a must when in Shanghai. Fountain Bistro and Wine Bar gets a rating of bombastic!

What I liked: The setting, the food, the service, the relaxed, cool setting.

What I didn’t like: Nothing!
