Baking Tray Café - Sharq, Kuwait - Of the many reviews on restaurants that we have come across, we were intrigued by the reviews that the Baking Tray Café, a Kuwait restaurant had gathered. The food served at this restaurant claims to contain no coloring, additives and preservatives and fresh food was a mantra they diligently followed. Located on Dasman Street in the Mishal Tower, we set out to taste this amazing cuisine for ourselves.

The First Impression: We arrived at this Kuwait restaurant at around nine o’clock and found the inside completely packed owing to its popularity. We were seated in the small patio outside and found the outside filling up fast. Our recommendation to all those looking at dropping in for a bite would be to make a reservation in advance or get there by 8:00 or 8:30 PM.

Décor and Ambience: The décor at this Kuwait restaurant was cozy and gave an aura that was all about delicious food. The aroma of the food wafted around the restaurant and got everybody’s taste buds ready for the meal. The warm colors of the restaurant made it cozy and intimate and the counter with all the baked goods arranged on trays with see-through lids and the showcase displaying the same were a visual treat. The counter with its warm brick-tiles base gave a homey feel to this Kuwait restaurant. The outside patio offered six tables and was partially enclosed with plants. The inside of this Kuwait restaurant had half a dozen tables and had a trendy look about it. The clientele were all young Kuwaitis and the pop-music played outside was apt for the crowd.

The Food: This Kuwait restaurant offered a wide array of sandwiches, salads, fresh juices and more. You could choose from a selection of salads such as the vegan chicken, cous cous and avocado garden. They also had a few pastas like rigatoni in light cherry tomato and cream sauce, lasagna Bolognese and more. Side orders included roasted potatoes, mozzarella triangles, sautéed mushrooms to name a few. They had a wide array of sandwiches such as chicken semolina, turkey on a sunflower bun, Philly steak and many more to choose from.. This Kuwait restaurant also served mouth watering pastries, date cakes, carrot cakes, pumpkin cheesecake and other goods.

Baking Tray Café also serves breakfast (served from 9 AM until noon seven days of the week). Freshly baked breads and homemade jams, omelets, frittatas, eggs, a cheese board, and a French breakfast round out the breakfast menu.

The other food served here were pizzas like shitake mushroom and four cheeses, meat pies and a variety of other similar dishes. They don’t serve any soda and offered juices, coffee and water instead. The prices were reasonable for Kuwait standards.

To kick things off, we were offered a complimentary basket of homemade bread with tomato basil spread to start with and it was really delectable.

We started with the soup of the day; carrot and ginger soup served luke warm but it turned out to be amazingly delicious. My friend had the semolina chicken sandwich, mustard marinated chicken on a basil mayo spread finished with oven dried tomatoes. I had the Philly steak sandwich with prime beef, onions, mushrooms and cheddar on a cibiatta which I felt had a tad much mustard.

Our salad, the Avocado Garden Salad, was a big sized portion and looked tempting and tasted even better; fresh and full of flavor. We ended our scrumptious meal with chocolate chip cookies (one order served three cookies) which were soft and chewy and some of the best chocolate chip cookies I’ve had in a very long time.

The Service: The service at this Kuwait restaurant started out well, but was a bit chaotic as they got busy.

The Calculated Impression: This Kuwait restaurant was one of the best restaurants we visited during our stay in Kuwait. The food was absolutely fresh and tasty and we highly Baking Tray Cafe to everyone.
