Ryoog – Shaab, Kuwait Located in Sha’ab al Bahri, near Villa Fairouz , is a highly regarded breakfast place called Ryoog. The word “ryoog” means breakfast in Arabic, so we figured what better place to have breakfast in Kuwait than Ryoog.

When we arrived, we noticed that there weren’t any signs in English, so check out our pictures of the place so you’d have a fair idea of what you will be looking for if you decide to visit.

Once inside, we found the restaurant to have a very casual vibe, and with a little imagination, can be described as kind of homey.

The menu was a simple affair and was divided into three categories:

American Breakfast (American Ryook):
Scrambled Eggs
Hash Brown or Bacon (turkey bacon)
Pancakes
Jam, Honey, Butter & Toast
Orange Juice
Coffee

Kuwaiti Breakfast: (Kuwait Ryook)
Eggs and Tomatoes
Green Beans Kuwait Style
Iranian Bread with Kraft Cheese
Tomato, Cucumber and White Cheese
Cream

Oriental Breakfast (Oriental Ryook)
Foul
Falafel
Cheese Fingers
Feta Chose Labna Shtora
Makdos Eggplant
Vegetables, Pickles and Olives
Honey, Fig Jam, Butter and Toast
Orange Juice
Coffee

Aside from the set breakfast menu, they also offered al carte items like eggs, omelets, qudsya, yogurt, fish and chips, waffles, and many more.

Our verdict? Well, the service was decent and the food was just ok, nothing great. If you are looking for a hearty breakfast, there are better places in Kuwait. (Namely Cocoa Room or Early Bird in Jabriya.) However, I do recommend a visit if you want to try traditional Kuwaiti breakfast, and it is because of this that we rate Ryoog Almost Bombastic.

What I liked: The casual and homey vibe, decent service, traditional Kuwaiti breakfast

What I didn’t like: Food could be better
