Tragaluz Restaurant - Barcelona, Spain - Located just a few blocks from Hotel Omm, Tragaluz, which part of the Grupo Tragaluz chain of hotels and restaurants, serves up some fantastic local cuisine.

We went early on a Sunday afternoon and were impressed with the decor and ambiance of this three story restaurant and bar. When we arrived, it was quite empty but in just a short time the restaurant was packed, which is typically a sign of great food and service.

To start with, we split a warm goat cheese salad - Perfect! Our first course was followed by the octopus carpaccio with vinaigrette and chili and the giant ravioli with vegetables and prawns. The ravioli was perfect; the octopus on the other hand was not really to my liking. It was bland and the chili was overpowering; not a great start to our dinner but with it as busy as it was, I had high hopes.

Our main courses, suckling pig with a quince and fresh-cheese roll, and the traditional roast, boned suckling lamp with sesame-seed and thyme wafer more than made up for the octopus. Both were tender, flavorful and succulent.

Desert was a black licorice ice cream which was not as good as it sounded and cheese cake which was on the dry side.

Over all the food was good, the wine selection decent, but it was the service that really kept Tragaluz from rating as bombastic. Slow service with a touch of "I don't care" was what we experienced, not at all what we would expect from an establishment such as this.

Would I go back is the question? Probably not, there are many other places I would try before subjecting myself to the slow and careless service.
