Kibo Palace is an executive hotel located in the heart of Arusha, Tanzania. This 4-star hotel is named after Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest peak in Africa’s highest mountain. The prime location of this hotel brings guests within easy driving distance of Arusha city center and Arusha International Conference Center.

Kibo Palace offers 77 guest rooms that cater to both business and leisure travelers. We stayed at this hotel for a night while on our way from Little Shompole in Kenya to Singita Sabora Tented Camp in the Grumeti Reserves in Tanzania.

The lobby of Kibo Palace was tastefully decorated. Our check-in was smooth and hassle-free. Our room had a modern and clean, and was equipped with a mini bar, electronic safe, TV, wireless high-speed internet, coffee/tea maker and a hair dryer. The bathroom, though small had a tub and a glass enclosed shower.

Room service was available 24 hours a day. The room service menu offered a number of choices. Our order was served efficiently and the food tasted great. In fact, room service even filled a special request for an Indian dish, Murgh Makhani (Butter Chicken). The twice-daily housekeeping kept our room clean and neat during our course of stay. An evening turn down service was also available.

The Kilimanjaro restaurant at Kibo Palace overlooks the pool and offers African and International cuisine. The lounge bar serves wines, champagnes and cocktails in a sophisticated setting.

The outdoor swimming pool is set amidst a lush landscaped garden. The pool bar serves cocktails, fresh juices and snacks. A steam bath, sauna and a state-of-the-art gym is also available.

Kibo Palace also offers a business center and small meeting rooms. In addition, wireless internet access is available in the hotel’s public spaces.

Overall, Kibo Palace was clean and service was decent. One odd issue was that when we booked the room, we did it on the internet, but never had to confirm it with a credit card. We just sent the hotel an e-mail, they gave us the prices and we booked it without using a credit card. I was a bit worried that we would not have a room upon our arrival, but sure enough it was there when we arrived. At check in, the did take our credit card.

Arusha does not have a lot of luxury hotels to choose from. For one night, I would stay at Kibo Palace again. Our rating for Kibo Palace is Between Bombastic and Not.
