Le Meridien Hotel Piccadilly - London, England | Hotel Review

Nice but Worn; Nicer Hotels in London Can Be Found

Le Meridien Piccadilly Hotel – London, UK: Located in London’s West End is the perfectly located (especially for tourists), five-star Le Meridien Piccadilly Hotel. Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, and Covent Garden are all just minutes away.

First Impression/Lobby: The lobby of Le Meridien Piccadilly Hotel did not match the stature of the outside of the hotel. Small and unimpressive, I was a bit surprised at how dull the lobby of the hotel was. It surely did not strike me as a five-star hotel in London.

Reception: The front desk agent Le Meridien Piccadilly Hotel did their job registering me, but they never showed any interest in making me feel welcomed or even interested that I was staying with them.

The Room: My Deluxe room was spacious, the only problem, much of the space went to waste. It was a poorly laid out room.

While it was clean, the décor was old and outdated. The room had an overall worn out feel to it; it was in desperate need of a remodel. I heard they are in the process of remodeling the hotel but not sure if the rooms are slated for remodel or just the public areas. Before booking a room, I suggest you contact the hotel to confirm if you would be getting a newly remodeled room or not. And, get your answer in writing and be sure to take it with you so you have it when you check-in. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

Also, my room was located on the 2nd floor and there was a lot of noise from the street. Request a room higher up, that is unless you like noise from the street at all hours of the night.

Room Service: Room Service at Le Meridien Piccadilly Hotel in London was just over-priced for the quality of the food. The menu was well rounded, and the order was delivered on time, but the quality simply did not reach a five-star level. With the plethora of restaurants in London, I recommend venturing out to eat rather than eating in your room.

Housekeeping: Other than my request of extra water at the evening service being ignored, the housekeeping staff did a fine job of servicing my room.

Concierge: The concierge staff at Le Meridien Piccadilly Hotel in London was far from impressive. The concierge that I spoke to about restaurant suggestions could not recommend any restaurants that met my description; chic, trendy, great atmosphere, good wine list and excellent food. The cuisine didn’t matter too much, but still all he could recommend were some basic touristy restaurants.

The other concierge I spoke to on the telephone never followed up with my request for a list of movies and shows that were currently showing in London. Combined, these two gave the concierge service a failing grade.

Restaurants: Le Meridien Piccadilly Circus Hotel in London offers Terrace Restaurant & Bar which serves International cuisine and it’s lounge, Longitude 0°8', is a chic and trendy place to relax with a drink or small bite to eat. However, when you are London, there are many other bombastic places to dine. Click here to see our London restaurant reviews.

Pool/Spa/Activities: The Piccadilly Health Club has recently been updated and now features a fully equipped gym, pool and sauna, as well as Jacuzzi and a squash court.

Overall Impression Compared to many of the other five-star and luxury hotels in London, Le Meridien Piccadilly Hotel does not come close to competing with them. The hotel is worn looking (however, a remodel is scheduled for the near future) and the service simply is non-existent. I could not recommend Le Meridien to anyone unless they simply didn’t care about service, and if that were the case, save your money and stay in a three or four star hotel.
