A luxury hotel, W Hotel is located in the heart of London's West End in Leicester Square. London’s iconic cinemas like the Empire and Odeon are just steps away from this hotel. Designed by Jestico + Whiles, this hip and trendy hotel has a gleaming translucent exterior fitted with hundreds of energy efficient lights.

W Hotel London has 192 luxurious guest rooms appointed with custom-made furnishings and signature amenities. Every guest room is equipped with an LCD television, Wi-Fi and floor-to-ceiling windows.

First Impression/Lobby: The lobby of the W Hotel London had a black décor with dim lighting. A six meter high bookcase filled with designer plates lined the hallway leading to the huge lobby lounge. A gold and silver themed bar was located on one side of the lobby lounge.

Reception: The reception was located on the first floor. Our check-in was quick and simple and we were shown to our Wonderful room without any delay.

The Room: Though small, our Wonderful room was very trendy looking and appointed with comfortable furnishings. Oddly, the wash basin was in the room and also doubled up as a dressing table/work desk. This was a huge negative, in my opinion. The shower and the toilet were in separate little closets to the left of the entrance to our room. The bed had a feather top mattress and was done up in Egyptian cotton sheets and a goose-down comforter. The room while chic and trendy, felt just a little to small to me to be considered “Wonderful”.

Room Service: Room service was excellent. Our food was delivered on time. Also, the presentation and the quality of the food were excellent. The room service at this hotel really deserves a thumps up.

Housekeeping: The housekeeping staff did a horrendous job. They either did not complete their job thoroughly or totally forgot to do turn down service in the evenings. The housekeeping gets a very low score from us.

Concierge: “Whatever/Whenever “, the 24-hour concierge service at the W Hotel London was very efficient. We had contacted the concierge a few weeks prior to our arrival regarding restaurant reservations. David, our contact at the concierge desk, did an excellent job and was more than helpful in booking our restaurant reservations.

Restaurant: This hotel had two lounges, while the signature W Lounge bar was open to the public, the other was by invitation only. You have to talk to the concierge to get your name on the list. We visited both bars and found them very busy and crowded. Service in the invitation-only bar, WYLD lounge, was horrible. Also, the drinks were way overpriced. It is definitely not a place that I would visit again. This lounge is just a place to see and be seen.

The Spice Market restaurant, located on the first floor of the hotel serves Southeast Asian cuisine in an casual, yet trendy atmosphere. Open daily, this restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Pool/Spa/Activities: The AWAY Spa at the W Hotel offers a number of treatments and is equipped with sauna and steam rooms and lounges for post-treatment relaxation. A retail beauty boutique is also present. SWEAT, the fitness center is appointed with state-of-the-art equipment.

Check-Out: The checkout process at the W Hotel was quick and easy. The bill was accurate, just as it should be at a five-star hotel.

Overall Impression: The W Hotel had all the makings of a bombastic hotel except for the room which was small and had the odd set up of the sink in the middle of the room. Also, housekeeping’s many errors and failure to do turn-down service was a major negative for this hotel. Our rating for the W Hotel in London Almost Bombastic.
