Amaya has a stylish décor. Rosewood furnishings, black granite flooring, black latticed ceiling, black tables and smart Italian leather chairs and dim lighting create an elegant yet somewhat romantic ambience. A dramatic glass countered open kitchen allows diners to watch the chefs in action at the grill and the tandoor. A private dining space is available for groups up to 14.

We were at Amaya in London for dinner. The place was very busy and luckily we had made our reservations in advance. The atmosphere was upscale, so feel free to dress up a bit. The menu mentioned that there were no conventional first courses or main courses and that food is served in tasting portions since it is designed to be shared. The dishes were either prepared in the tandoor (hot clay oven), sigri (over charcoal ) or on a tawa (hot plate). A nice variety of both vegetarian and non vegetarian options were available. Also available were a tasting menu, express lunch menu and a 400-calorie lunch. The signature dishes at this restaurant were the seafood platter and lamb kebabs. A range of non-alcoholic drinks such as mango lassi with mint were also on offer.

We went in for an a la carte dinner and ordered a vegetarian dish, Fish Tikka, Tandoori Chicken and a couple of drinks. Four pots of spices and chutneys were served along with our order. All the dishes were brilliantly executed and the flavors were subtle and incredible. Service at Amaya was fantastic. Our waitress Joanna was quite knowledgeable and guided us ably through the menu.

Overall, Amaya in London serves authentic and delicious Indian food in a chic and elegant atmosphere. The top notch service was an added plus. Our rating for this restaurant is Bombastic.
