The location of Hilton Park Lane is beautiful with the Dorchester hotel on the right and the Four Seasons on the left. The famous Nobu restaurant is situated just next door. The marble-floored lobby of the Hilton in London was quite impressive. I was greeted by the doorman who took my bags. He did his job well and was very professional about it. However, he didn't do anything extra for me. After a quick and efficient check-in, I was shown to my standard room.

The Standard Room allotted to me was on the 9th floor. According to the staff at the reception, my room was on the floor that had been renovated and hence very good. The room was clean and tidy upon arrival and had a modern decor. However, it was very tiny and was placed awkwardly at the end of the corridor. Since the room faced Hyde Park, the sun was shining right into my room making it very hot. Also there was no space even to walk around and I ended up putting my suitcase in the closet. Even the bathroom was very small. Internet was available in the room for £20 per day, too high a price if you ask me. But if you are a gold or diamond member in the HHoner Hilton program, internet is available for free.

After settling in, I went down to check with the concierge (around 7pm on the first day) for a place to get a SIM card and a restaurant. The guy at the desk was full of attitude. He just gave the address and when I asked about directions, he brought a map and made two crosses (one on the hotel and the other on the place I had to go) and said “Here u go”. So much for service! When I came back from the restaurant, I was surprised to notice that the housekeeping service had not done turn down service and had also forgot to leave face cloths. When I called about it, the face cloths were send to my room immediately.

On the second day, I decided to have dinner in my room. Though the room service menu was not extensive, it had some of my favorite dishes. I ordered the Penne Arrabiata and asked them to make it the way I liked it, with a little cream so the sauce as a rose’ color and peppers to make it extra spicy. I was told that the food would arrive in 30 minutes and it arrived on time. Also, they did not have any issues about preparing the pasta according to my directions. Needless to say, the pasta was delicious and I was really satisfied.

Check out was fast and quick and I did not face any issues with the bill. Overall, the Hilton in London offered a great location, good room service and great food. However, there were issues with housekeeping and concierge. Also, the standard room was very tiny. Our rating for Hilton Park Lane is Almost Bombastic.
