Pizza on the Park - London, England: A casual restaurant that serves simple Italian cuisine with no pretensions whatsoever, Pizza on the Park is a great place to kick back, relax and enjoy the simple things in life like a deliciously perfect bite of pizza while listening to some good jazz music on a lazy afternoon or a low-key, no-happening night.

After almost a week of dining out all over London, we craved for good old comfort food and decided to just order pizza. We heard good reviews about the no-nonsense style of Pizza on the Park and decided to check it out. They did not have a delivery service, however, so we made the 10 minute walk from our hotel at the InterContinental Park Lane to the restaurant.

The restaurant is a lot larger than I thought, and a lot more upscale than I expected from a casual pizza place. Besides an extensive choice of pizza (17 in all), their menu also consisted of pastas, burgers, grills, and steaks. They also have a substantial wine and champagne list from Italy, France, Spain, South Africa, Argentina, and Chile. Downstairs is a music room where a jazz band plays on a schedule.

We went with a simple Margherita Pizza—Mozzarella and tomato, and requested to have it topped with pepperoni, which they happily obliged to. Written on their menu was the tagline “pure and simple,” and I couldn’t agree more except that they forgot to add “delicious!” in the series. For satisfyingly delicious takeout pizza, I rate Pizza on the Park as Bombastic.
