The best Italian restaurant in Hanoi

Restaurant Category : Italian

Milan Italian Restaurant @ InterContinental Hotel - Hanoi, Vietnam: Situated on the 1st floor of the Intercontinental Hotel, Milan is touted as the best Italian restaurant in Hanoi. Of course that remains to be seen. Understandably, we had high expectations for Milan. Question is: does it make the grade?

The restaurant itself is impressive. It was modern, expansive, has an open-kitchen, large dining tables (both in alcoves and in the open), and a design that’s tastefully done. A bread basket was provided, which was regularly topped up, and was excellent. It had bread sticks, corn bread and sour dough with a wonderful tomato & garlic spread. Service was up to par with the best of them, and everything came at a timely fashion.

Though it was an Italian restaurant, we opted to have steaks for dinner. We had the Black Angus steak and it was very good. It wasn’t fantastic as it was a little dry, though the vegetables were sautéed perfectly. The wine list was impressive and had a healthy number of choices. We ended up having the McLaren Vale Shiraz, which was very good.

We had a simple but very good dinner experience in Milan, and we would definitely come back for more. The food was very good, service was excellent, and the ambience was very classy and upscale. It can get a bit pricey though and reservations are a must. Overall, we give this wonderful Italian restaurant in Hanoi a rating of: Bombastic!

What I liked: The food, the service, the atmosphere

What I didn’t like: A bit pricey

Rating: Bombastic
