Alto Ristorante e Bar at Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa - Gainey Ranch, Scottsdale: For a “hotel” restaurant, the Alto Ristorante e Bar was better than not half bad. In fact, it was great! You rarely get authentic food from a hotel restaurant, much less authentic Italian; but Alto Ristorante pulls it off quite well. The setting of the restaurant was vibrant and appetizing. Inside, the décor was trendy, yet warm and comfortable. It had floor-to-ceiling windows which offered beautiful views of the hotel’s lush gardens. You can choose to dine inside or in the terrace al fresco where you “gather” around a fire pit, setting up a romantic ambiance.

In the true Italian way, the menu was centered on fresh ingredients that were in season. For antipasto we had a wonderful assortment of cheeses and meats paired with an excellent Italian wine. Next, I tried their homemade fettuccine topped with veal shank ragout, a very satisfying and comforting dish. You can really taste the freshness of the pasta and the slow-cooked intensity of the veal. We also had a sea bass that was flavored with a butter-lemon sauce. It was not as impressive as the pasta but it had a light and savory character that made it enticing.

The service was first-class, professional and friendly at the same time. The wait staff knew the menu very well and expertly told us something about each dish we inquired about. From beginning to end, we had an amazing experience at the Alto. Definitely the best Italian restaurant I have tried in any Hyatt property, I rate the Alto Ristorante e Bar Bombastic!
