Bread and Porridge serves American food in a casual, old-fashioned atmosphere. This 12-table restaurant has high ceilings and vintage orchard-crate artwork on its walls and table tops. Huge leather sofas near the coffee bar allow diners to relax while waiting. Breakfast, the main draw here, is available at all times.

Bread and Porridge offers a number of breakfast options such as omelets, eggs, bacon, gourmet sausages, waffles and pancakes. A large variety of omelettes are available with stuffing ranging from feta and spinach to spicy chicken sausage. All omelets are served with roasted red breakfast potatoes. Pancakes are available in five varieties and are served in short and tall stacks. For those interested in lunch, the options available are fresh salads, burgers and sandwiches.

We visited this restaurant on a Saturday morning and the place was crowded. Hence it took some time for us to get a seat. We were offered the menu the moment we were settled in. I chose the Quesadilla while my partner opted for the Huevos Ranceros. The Quesadilla, a flour tortilla was filled with melted jack cheese, freshly minced jalapeno and slices of Roma tomato and was served with scrambled eggs & roasted red potatoes. On the other hand, the Huevos Ranceros, a corn tortilla, was topped with black beans, salsa, cheddar cheese and two sunny-side-up eggs and served with roasted red potatoes. Both the dishes were garnished with avocado. The food was very average and lacked any distinctive flavor. However, the portions were quite large.

The service at Bread and Porridge was quick and friendly. This restaurant has a very casual and relaxed atmosphere and is ideal for a quick breakfast. The food was average at best, and not anything that amazed me to a point that I would go back the next time I was in town.
