Café Adelaide – New Orleans, LA: Located in the Loews New Orleans Hotel, adjacent to the Arts District in New Orleans, LA, Café Adelaide came highly recommended by friends and food critics alike. Offering Creole cuisine with a playful twist, as well as an inspired theme, we came to Café Adelaide with high hopes.

Proclaiming their cuisine as “Boosted” New Orleans, Café Adelaide’s dinner entrees include: Shrimp on Shrimp & Grits, Duck and Dumplings, Gulf Fish under a brick and Caramel Onion Redfish to name a few.

To start, I had the Turtle Soup Au Sherry, and though it was interesting (once I could past the thought of eating turtle). I can’t say I’d try it again, though I had no regrets ordering it.

My main course of Duck and Dumplings, ricotta dumplings, snap peas, baby carrots, and duck veloute was impressive. While it didn’t “wow” me to the point that I would say it’s a must, I can say it didn’t leave me disappointed.

The atmosphere of Café Adelaide is much more contemporary than other Creole restaurants in New Orleans. Service was my favorite part of our evening, it was simply stellar service!

Overall, the food was good, but nowhere near great (maybe it’s just the type of cuisine that I didn’t like). The food options were interesting though, but that’s about it. Personally I wouldn’t go back, but if ever you are in New Orleans, and in ready to try some true Creole fare, it’s worth a visit. And if you decide to go, be sure to make reservations! Getting in without them can be difficult.
