Electric Cheetah - Grand Rapids, MI: Electric Cheetah is located on Wealthy Street in Grand Rapids, an area that is being renewed and fast becoming a busy street with some small eateries, coffee houses and shops. Sustainable foods and environmentally conscious establishments are becoming the trend in Grand Rapids and this eclectic restaurant fully rides the eco-bandwagon. Electric Cheetah uses fresh, local and organic ingredients to create inventive dishes, as well as a few American staples and comfort foods. The design and ambiance is trendy and casual, and as it is a new place, looks neat and well-maintained. Outside on the sidewalk are four small tables for enjoying a casual lunch and cool drinks.

The menu consists of a wide selection of sandwiches and salads, vegetarian and meat dishes, and “homemade” desserts. They also have a daily special that is not listed on the menu and instead posted on the board so that it can be easily seen as you walk in, and it is also usually mentioned by the server.

We decided to sit outside as the weather was quite fine and it was a good day to people watch. I wasn’t feeling too adventurous that day and craved for some comfort food so I opted for mac and cheese and tomato soup—supposedly easy dishes to perfect. The servers were friendly but the service was a bit slow and inconsistent even though there were only a few people in the restaurant at that time. The food was okay but not spectacular. While the ingredients were fresh and organic, the flavor and x-factor was lacking. The average taste of something as basic as mac and cheese and tomato soup was not a good indication of the general quality of their food. Needless to say, Electric Cheetah fell short of being impressive. Overall rating, Between Bombastic and Not.

What I liked: the fact that there was a new option for dining in the Wealthy street area

What I didn’t like: nothing except that everything about it was pretty much average
