Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch - Phoenix, AZ: Thinking about Arizona immediately cooks up an image of a modern desert with unusually hot summers and bustling activity. Knowing that there’s a luxury location for you to unwind and relax in is a boon, and if you’re a fan of resorts and spas you’ll love the fact that there is a Hyatt Regency located here. I wanted to check out what the Hyatt offered, and I found it to be a pleasant experience overall.

The resort is family oriented as there seems to be a ton of stuff to do for the kids. The lobby made me feel welcome, and the hotel grounds are fantastic. The service in the hotel was generally good, except for a few glitches with housekeeping and the bellman that assisted me. The room I received was on the smaller side, rather typical of the older hotels that stand to this day.

The Hyatt Regency had a superb Italian restaurant and a bistro called SWB, which had an incredible atmosphere: I had some champagne at a big outdoor fireplace followed by a filling lunch. Service was rather un-attentive, but came through nonetheless. Overall, I had a pleasant stay at this hotel. I’m giving it a rating of Somewhere Between Bombastic and Not.
