Divine Dining in Carmel Valley

Marinus Restaurant at Bernardus Lodge - Carmel Valley, CA: California continues to surprise me with the variety of dining experiences the state has to offer. This time I found myself dining at the Marinus Restaurant in rustic Bernardus Lodge, which is a true-to-life lodge ensconced in the vineyards and trees of Carmel Valley.

My dining partner and I tried out the three course dinner that the Marinus had to offer, and I just have to say that it was absolutely divine! We experienced top-notch service throughout the night from the moment we were ushered to our seats to the time that we got out.

For appetizers we had carrot soup and a portobello mushroom soup which were tasty and rather filling; a great way to start our dinner. We also ordered a plate of oysters, which served as the perfect contrast to our cream-based soups. For our main dish, my partner ordered a fresh-from-the-sea Californian Black Sea Bass in truffle sauce, while I had my all-time favorite dish: lamb! It was a Colorado Lamb Rib-Eye with garlic chips and some local greens. I know my lamb dishes, and the Marinus certainly did not disappoint!

I had a very positive dining experience here at the Marinus, and would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s thinking of going down to the Carmel Valley. In fact, if you find yourself in sunny California, you should make it a point to head on over to the Bernardus to give Marinus Restaurant a try. Bombastic!
