Stillwater Bar and Grill at Pebble Beach – Carmel, California: The Stillwater Bar and Grill is surprisingly a chic and trendy place to dine, despite its nondescript name. The atmosphere is laid-back yet romantic, decorated with contemporary art and interesting lamps hanging from the ceiling with aptly exposed beams—giving the restaurant a raw edge and a charming contradiction. From the outside terrace, there is an amazing view of the 18th hole of Pebble Beach Golf Course.

The menu was simply mouth-watering—an array of fresh seafood, consisting of both regional and international specialties. We had Steamed Blue Mussels, Maine Lobster Sandwich and Dungeness Crab Cakes, and a bottle of 2004 Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc which made the afternoon complete. It was the perfect lunch: light, fun, and sumptuous! The service also deserves praise; the servers were knowledgeable and pleasing, and made sure we had a great time all throughout.

While a bit far from the main town, this place is worth the drive—the food, the wine, the service, the view, when combined together, form the perfect dining experience. Reservations are a must for this place, and if the weather is nice, be sure to book a table on the terrace, preferably scheduled just before sunset for a truly unforgettable time. Bombastic!
