Tavern on Jane - New York: Tavern on Jane, a neighborhood bar and grill, located in the meatpacking district of Manhattan, is the best place in the area for a burger and a beer.

During our stay at the Four Seasons Hotel, Courtney, the concierge suggested we try Tavern on Jane. After a few days at the Four Seasons, we were moving to Hotel Gansevoort to check it out. He told us Tavern on Jane was just a few blocks from there so what better time to try it.

We walked over to Tavern on Jane around 9 PM, and found it just as Courtney had described it, a casual bar and grill packed with locals. Luckily, there were still a few tables available.

It was as you might expect, dimly lit, casual and loud with the chatter and banter of local New Yorkers enjoying dinner and a few drinks.

The menu had all the basics: sandwiches, soups, burgers, etc. We were in search of a great burger, so this time it was easy to choose. The burgers, accompanied with a large order of fries and all the fixings to make a great burger, were just that, great!

Service was perfect; they treated us like a local, making us feel welcomed. The price, as you soon realize with most things in New York, is pricy, but still reasonable as New York goes.

Is Tavern on Jane a place I would drive across Manhattan for? No, but if I am in the Meat Packing district and want a killer burger, then this is the only place I would head to.
