Antica Trattoria da Bruno - Pisa, Italy | Restaurant Review
Restaurant Category : Italian
Antica Trattoria da Bruno - Pisa, Italy - After a morning of seeing the Baptistery, the Cemetery, the Duomo and of course, The Leaning Tower of Pisa, we were all set for a wonderful lunch. Unfortunately, stuck in a dark corner of a little side room is where I got to experience Antica Trattoria da Bruno.
Known for their Pisan cooking, da Bruno is located not too far from the leaning Tower of Pisa and listed as one Pisa's finest restaurants. It has been located in same spot for almost half a century.

With all that said, I was far from impressed with da Bruno. I'm not sure if Pisan cooking is just not my taste but the whole experience was pretty much lackluster.
Service was slow and the decor was plain and as I'd said before, being stuck in a dark corner didn't help at all.
I tried the zuppa alla paesana (a thick vegetable soup) and hare with pappardelle, a traditional Pisan dish, but neither lived up to my expectations.
After so many great restaurants in Tuscany, this one was a let down. Would I go back go da Bruno? No, But if they've been in business for almost 50 years. They must be doing something right. Apparently, I just didn't see it.
