da Giorgio - Capri, Italy: The scenic town of Capri plays host to da Giorgio, a restaurant owned and operated by Chef Giorgio Oldano. Located in the center of town, da Giorgio is a place to enjoy fine Northern Italian cuisine.

We arrived for dinner at da Giorgio, were quickly seated and our orders taken by a kind waiter. After a simple anti-pasta of Prosciutto and melon, we decided on having the evening's first course special, lobster and pasta. Although delicious and certainly filling, I found it underhanded that they did not inform us that this particular appetizer cost 100 Euro!

For our main courses, we tried the octopus salad and filleted beef in a red wine sauce. Though the octopus was not anything dazzling, the beef in particular was succulent. The red wine in which it was cooked really brought out the flavor of this particular dish. For dessert, I had a slice of Tiramisu, which I have to admit was the best that I had tasted in a very long time.

The service throughout dinner was spotty at best. At times, there were two or three waiters ready and able to serve you but as it tends to happen, when you really needed someone, everyone seemed to have disappeared.

Da Giorgio is a restaurant that serves average to quality food and the same can be said for their service. I am rating this restaurant somewhere between Bombastic and Not.
